About TEC
Summer Institute
TEC Summer
Institute assists instructors by increasing their knowledge of CAD,
CAM and Laser Technologies through 3 days of intense hands-on training
taught by certified classroom
instructors.
Instructors who come
to TEC Summer Institute gain all the information they need to effectively
facilitate 3D CAD, Solid Modeling, CAM or Laser Manufacturing techniques
in their classroom. This 3-day program has been designed to
provide Instructors with the most comprehensive teacher training
in a short amount of time for the best value possible.
Accredited* Course Offerings include:
401 - KeyCreator Levels 1-3
(Multi-Level, Individualized Instruction)
Explore the interface of KEYCREATOR beyond the basics: 2D detailed
drafting, 3D drafting and design with exploration into solid modeling,
surface rendering using the many tools available in KEYCREATOR,
assemblies and Rapid Prototyping. Instructors bring back classroom
tricks, activities, solutions and "WOW" factors, plus
suggestions for integrating Math and Science.
The course also teaches: the importance of levels, 2D Wireframe,
3D Modeling, and Solid Modeling to create industrial drafting
and design drawings through a real geometry approach to 3D modeling
. Take home activities that go beyond the textbook and incorporate
industry's rationale for using leveling techniques and color to
improve creative modeling, design and detailed layout drawings.
Study the new power and features of KeyCreator and its integrated
features.
501 - Envisioneer Levels 1-3 (Multi-Level, Individualized Instruction)
Explore the basics of 3D architectural residential design using
the extremely simple-to-use parametric modeling features and advantages
of Envisioneer. Designed for those with little or no architectural
experience; including middle school, construction trades, interior
design and those wanting to add 3D Architectural CAD as a new
unit to an ongoing program. See the instant “WOW”
factors that make it is easy to teach and fun for students learn!
Become skilled with the “House Builder Wizard” and
learn how to create professional construction details, schedules,
materials lists, multiple floors, simple roofs, simple landscaping
and interior design. Upon completion of this course, the advanced
user will feel comfortable introducing complete residential architectural
plan sets and rendering to their classes or teaching vocational
residential building comprehension with the Envisioneer product.
601 - Laser Technologies Levels 1-2 (Multi-Level, Individualized Instruction)
Laser Technology crosses many disciplines: Manufacturing, Graphics,
Material Processing, CAD/CAM, Entrepreneurship, Art, etc. In addition
to the above areas, time will be spent on Laser types, Laser properties,
control software and image generation. Other covered topics will
include power, speed, DPI, PPI, vector and raster laser variables.
Attendees will experience the CO2 laser effect on various easily
accessible materials for the classroom (i.e. paper, wood, metal,
glass, cloth, plastics, etc.). Instructors will leave with a comprehensive
procedural format to bring Laser Technology education to students.
Lab Fee: FREE! TEC, Inc. is supplying complimentary laser material
samples to attendees! If you have a special project, bring it
along.
701 - Machining with SURFCAM Levels
1-2 (Multi-Level, Individualized Instruction)
Using SURFCAM, you will learn 2-3 axis pocketing,
contouring & other machining operations with a industry leading
CAM software package. SURFCAM is easy to learn, powerful, and
provides high performance generation of tool paths—no prior
CNC experience is necessary. You will learn to take solid models/CAD
drawings into SURFCAM, and generate tool paths. From these tool
paths you will have SURFCAM generate a code that your CNC machine
can read and run. Topics will include tool selection, speed and
feeds, and multi-tool machining. This is your opportunity to learn
a #1 CAD/CAM product and bring it into your classroom! Using the
latest release, SURFCAM Velocity® 3.0, participants will learn
key features of the program including full associatively, advanced
finishing, and its fast programming and processing operations.
NC Machines (mill and lathe) will be on hand for those wanting
to complete parts designed in class.
801- ZCorp 3D Rapid Prototyping Levels 1-2 (Multi-Level, Individualized Instruction)
Explore Rapid Prototyping (RP) from design to final product. This course will look at the many ways to create a RP CAD Design and the final 3D RP model including methods necessary to create the best single part or multi-functional model. Investigate the undiscovered power of Z Print and the new Z Edit Pro software you haven’t had time to investigate that will give you new power and save classroom time. Learn new tools and techniques for model editing, including fixing bad .stl files, shelling, as well as, patching, stitching, and part disassemble. The printing techniques will cover the advantages of the diverse powder options along with printing tricks and techniques for great models the first time. Each attendee will also experience the optional part infiltration methods and when and how to use them. Practical instruction includes how to care and maintain your printer on a daily and weekly basis. And, what to do for long vacation breaks, summer vacation and school fall startup. Hands on instruction will be provided by Z Corp certified trainers. Lab time will be available for individual projects and special topics.
