Q: Can DataCAD be installed on a Macintosh Computer?
A: No. DataCAD is a PC based program only, and does not support a Macintosh platform. Industry professionals use DataCAD on PC platforms only; therefore, in order to prepare students for industry, students must become familiar with both the software and platforms used in this industry.

Q: How is DataCAD Licensing controlled?
A: DataCAD licenses are controlled in one of two ways:

  1. Individual Hardlocks (sometimes known as dongles or SIMs) can be attached to the parallel printer port of each workstation. USB locks can be obtained by special request.
  2. Network License Manager. This is a single parallel lock that can be attached to a server or any one computer that can be "seen" by all the other computers running DataCAD. This lock is programmed specifically for the number of seats purchased and will serve out a license to each machine when it starts. This will run in Windows or Novell networks but if on a Novell network the lock must be on a Windows workstation and not the Novell server. Network locks can be obtained in any number of seats desired. Contact your sales representative for more information.
