The
CAD LAB Classroom Series Exploring Solid Modeling Module is designed
to expose students to the exciting world of 3D computer modeling.
This unique Module contains the CAD software and curriculum needed
to introduce students to solid modeling within a 5, 10, 15 day curriculum,
or beyond! The fundamental concepts of 3D computer modeling are
covered in a friendly and easy to understand environment. No previous
experience in CAD or technical drawing is required. The Exploring
Solid Modeling Module has been used successfully with students as
early as middle school as well as with high school students who
are ready to begin exploring the world of 3D design. We also recommend
the integration of this Module with other disciplines such as math,
physics, or computer graphics.
Features
Flexi-Course Curriculum! The Flexi-course format allows the instructor
to easily adapt the course to his or her specifications. It can
be structured to provide a 5, 10, 15 day curriculum, or beyond!
No Prerequisite Required! Detailed step-by-step instructions lead the student
through a series of carefully crafted exercises designed to introduce
the fundamental concepts of 3D modeling. Information is provided
between the steps that will help the student to understand the operations
and functions being used. After following the procedures presented,
most students will soon be creating their own 3D models! Uses Powerful Commercial Mechanical CAD
Software! The CAD LAB Classroom Series includes CADKEY,
one of the most popular mechanical design programs used in industry. Subject Integration Opportunities! The basic concepts of 3D modeling presented provide
a wealth of opportunities for articulation with other subjects.
For instance, math students can study the Cartesian coordinate system
using CADKEY and physics students can determine mass properties
of 3D models using CADKEY!
