Student Claims, "CADKEY® & SURFCAM® Gave Us the Edge Over Our Competition."
Students Win the Gold Medal at
the SkillsUSA-VICA in Utah
Vernal, UT- May 6, 2002 - Devin Bodily,
Jeremy Henderson and Storm McDonald, students from Uintah High School,
recently won the gold medal in the Automated Manufacturing Technology
Competition at the Utah SkillsUSA-VICA Championship, using CADKEY®,
2D/3D and solid modeling software, and SURFCAM®, a powerful PC based
Computer-Aided Machining software system both used in industry worldwide.
Jeremy Henderson commented, "CADKEY and SURFCAM gave us the edge
over our competition."
William Reese, CAD/CAM Instructor at
Uintah High School said, "My goal as instructor is to have the best
CAD/CAM lab in Utah at the high school level and I think we are
close if not there. We are really excited about winning, as this
was our first try, but CADKEY and SURFCAM have made it much easier
than other CAD/CAM programs that we have tried. CADKEY and SURFCAM
really allowed us to make a quality product and presentation."
Reese added, "We make molds and parts and have been
using carbon fiber composites in our manufacturing class. The students
are really excited about this stuff and say that the CAD/CAM classes
are the best they've taken in High School. One of my students, Devin
Bodily, walked right into a machine shop and is running Fadal machining
centers utilizing SURFCAM that he learned in my class as a junior."
SkillsUSA-VICA is a national organization serving
a quarter-million high school and college students and professional
members who are enrolled in technical, skilled, and service occupations,
including health occupations. Each year, students compete first
at the state level, and then the winners continue on to the SkillsUSA-VICA
National Competition in Kansas City, MO. For more information or
