U.S. Department of Defense Education Activity Selects
DataCAD® for 5-Year Contract
Pembroke,
NH - August 19, 2002 - After a thorough evaluation process, Tech
Ed Concepts, Inc. (TEC) is proud to announce that they have been
awarded a 5-year contract to supply architectural design software
and materials to 78 United States Department of Defense (DOD) schools
worldwide.
TEC will be supplying DataCAD (Professional
Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) software), and The DataCAD
10 Project Book, by Dr. Leonard O. Nasman, for use in the Applied
Technology course for students in grade levels five through eight.
TEC will also be supplying DOD instructors with a set of Architectural
CAD Communications Instructor's Guidelines and additional curriculum
materials. Architecture is incorporated as one of the technology-related
activities that students will explore through the Applied Technology
course in the DOD Technology Literacy Program.
"Visual communication of ideas is natural to children
who have grown up with multimedia and computer games. DataCAD is
an easy-to-use program that will allow students to explore architectural
design concepts simultaneously in 2D and 3D. We're very pleased
that DOD students will be using our program, and will receive excellent
support from Tech Ed Concepts, a premier educational reseller,"
stated Mark Madura, president and CEO of DATACAD LLC.
Essential objectives incorporated in the course will
allow students to define technology and recognize its impact; apply
problem-solving strategies to the design process in order to create
potential solutions, and demonstrate methods of graphic representation
of ideas. The course content includes the integration of mathematics,
science, humanities and applied engineering concepts. Through practical,
hands-on experience using DataCAD, students will leave the Applied
Technology course with the ability to understand the basic principles
of Architecture.
Richard Amarosa, President of TEC stated, "TEC is
pleased to be the solution provider of software and curriculum materials
for the U.S. Government schools that will be used to teach young
people about Architectural CAD Communications. The core of our DOD
school program, the combination of software with Instructor's Guidelines,
is the latest formula for new educators of technology. We will work
with them and successfully service their needs as we do with our
other products - CADKEY, SURFCAM and our new Applied Manufacturing
Technology programs."
