The SME chapter selects one high school senior each year who is pursuing post-secondary engineering studies to receive the John I. McKenney Scholarship Award. This year, SME awarded Jessica D. Pinard of Fall Mountain Regional High School in Alstead, NH as the winner of the scholarship. She was awarded a $1000 scholarship, one seat of CADKEY Design Suite, CADKEY Design Suite Manuals, the CADKEY 19 Cookbook by Jerry Kuhn and Dr. Leonard O. Nasman's CADKEY Project Book. Her award was based on her academic success, community involvement, engineering future, acceptance into a post-secondary college, and financial need. Jessica will be attending Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY this fall. The runners up for this Award also received one seat of CADKEY Design Suite, CADKEY Design Suite Manuals and Dr. Leonard O. Nasman's Quick Guide to Solids. Bo Akaogi of Bellow Falls Union High School (South Bellows Falls, VT); Michael Bower and Amy Cote of Contoocook Valley High School (Peterborough, NH); Adam Getty, Matthew Thoin and Garrett Webber of Conant High School (Jaffrey, NH); Peter Neylan and James Kahn of Monadnock Regional High School and Bradley Venice of Hindsale High School (Hinsdale, NH) were all recipients. In addition, TEC Inc. contributed one seat of CADKEY Design Suite, CADKEY Design Suite Manuals, CADKEY 19 Cookbook by Jerry Kuhn and Dr. Leonard O. Nasman's Quick Guide to Solids to each school. Linda Bolte, North American Sales Manager for Tech Ed Concepts, Inc. visited each school with SME representative Jeff Hall to personally award each student and school with the software and curriculum materials. Jeff Hall said, "Many thanks to CADKEY for their enormous generosity to this program. The students and schools were more than appreciative, and for the most part, stunned by the gifts. Tech Ed Concepts, Inc. (TEC, Inc.), CADKEY's North American Academic
Distributor. TEC, Inc. also supplied SME with CADKEY Design Suite
Manuals, and curriculum materials for the student winners and their
schools (over $40,000 commercial value.)
