Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College Accepts Recognition As a Certified Regional Training Center

Tech Ed Concepts, Inc. Acknowledges Faculty for Commitment in Technology Education

November 12, 2001 (Pembroke, NH) -Tech Ed Concepts, Inc., a full-service 3D academic software provider for educators and students has awarded Wisconsin Indianhead Technical Community College (WITC) as a CADKEY® Certified Regional Training Center. CADKEY is a 3D hybrid solid modeling computer-aided design software program that is currently used worldwide by many industries and secondary and post-secondary educational institutions in the field of engineering, drafting and design.

CADKEY's North American Academic Distributor, Tech Ed Concepts, Inc., is responsible for recently awarding secondary and post-secondary institutions all over North America as CADKEY Certified Training Centers. Richard Amarosa, President of Tech Ed Concepts, Inc. said, "WITC has been a long-time proponent of the academic advantages that CADKEY dedicates to their students. WITC recognizes that CADKEY provides their students with more CAD knowledge and content than other 'popular' programs and the latest 'CAD fads.' This demonstrates the importance they place on their students not only to enter the job market, but the importance of providing the foundation that they will carry into their successful futures."

It is with great pleasure that Tech Ed Concepts officially awards WITC as a CADKEY Regional Training Center. In order to qualify as a Regional Training Center, WITC is required to meet a series of criteria. WITC instructors have to be competent in the use and application of CADKEY software; they have to be willing to participate or provide industry training workshops and/or host teacher workshops, and offer CAD courses outside the classroom through local community education programs and/or local industrial programs.

Instructors at WITC have been teaching CADKEY for many years, both in the full-time and part-time continuing education programs. The software is used specifically in the "Machine Tool Technics" program where students learn CAD/CAM operation, machining skills, blueprint reading among other theory courses in tool making. JR Colvin, instructor of the program, expressed his appreciation for this announcement, "I feel that this recognition is a direct result of WITC- New Richmond's professional staff development program along with a genuine concern by the staff in the Trade and Technical Dept of the college that we must maintain current and up to date with the ever changing capability's of CADKEY software." Mr. Colvin, like other instructors who teach CADKEY, believes CADKEY is unlike other CAD programs in that it teaches the basics and fundamentals of engineering. After they are exposed to CADKEY, they are able to develop the necessary skill of visualizing in 3D whether they use the software or not which demonstrates CADKEY's effectiveness.

WITC offers courses such as CAD Basics, CAD Intermediate, CADKEY Advanced and CADKEY Solids. Beginning next semester, "Advanced Solids" will be added to the curriculum. Instructor at WITC Dean Hoffman affirmed, "CADKEY's ease of use, fast learning curve and intuitive working environment makes it an excellent choice to learn CAD skills and concepts." CADKEY Corp. and Tech Ed Concepts, Inc. support WITC's commitment to the concept of life-long learning and their dedication to providing their communities with the comprehensive educational training necessary for today's competitive industry.

WITC demonstrates its willingness to enhance the economy in the local and surrounding communities through the strength of its academic programs and community involvement. JR Colvin added, "At present we are currently working with local area high schools on offering an entry level CAD course through WITC - New Richmond. CADKEY will be the software used in the curriculum. Local employers are constantly expressing a need for people proficient in CAD."

Students, instructors and administrators throughout North America recognize CADKEY Certified Training Centers as organizations that provide effective educational CAD training based on the founding principles of engineering and technology. Other Regional Training Centers include Arkansas State University, Tri-State University, Ukiah High School, New Hampshire Technical Community College and other select academic institutions located throughout North America. Amarosa concluded by acknowledging, "WITC has demonstrated the basics of what any academic institution should do, and that is, take care of their students. CADKEY students build the foundation and future of manufacturing in America."
