New Hampshire Technical Institute
Engineering Technology Department Receives Over $400,000 of FREE
CADKEY® Software & Certified Training Center Approval
100 Seat Grant Request Approved!
Technical Institute Continues to Provide Industry with Experienced
Graduates
Pembroke, NH -November 1, 2001 - Tech Ed Concepts,
Inc., a full-service 3D academic software provider for educators
and students, in cooperation with software developer CADKEY Corporation,
has approved the request of 100 seats of CADKEY Academic Design
Suite software (valued over $400,000) to the New Hampshire Technical
Institute (NHTI) Engineering Technology Department while additionally
recognizing NHTI as a CADKEY Certified Training Center.
CADKEY Academic Design Suite is a distinctive
engineering bundle of software that contains four software programs
in one package. The bundle includes CADKEY, CADKEY® PARAMETRICS,
DRAFT-PAK®, and FastSURF® software. The CADKEY Academic Design Suite
provides students with the latest advances of 3D hybrid solid modeling,
complex surface modeling, productivity software, Parametric modeling
tools, and more.
Richard Amarosa, President of Tech Ed Concepts, Inc.
said, "It pleases me to see my alma mater, NHTI, focusing on the
insight and interest of their students. Providing the students with
CADKEY Design Suite ensures the opportunity for students to leave
NHTI with the latest abilities of any drafting and design software."
NHTI has employed CADKEY software for several years.
CADKEY is currently used in NHTI's "Basic Design Course" during
the first and second semesters. Throughout the semesters, students
are assigned real-world problem solving projects where they use
the software to determine the solution to the problems. Dr. John
Miller, Professor of Engineering at NHTI said, "Unlike other programs
that may teach strictly dimensioning, CADKEY allows students to
identify the problem, and apply the solution using the full commercial
version of the software, which enables them to learn the concept
effectively."
In addition to being awarded the CADKEY Academic Design
Suite, Tech Ed Concepts, Inc. has approved NHTI as a CADKEY Regional
Training Center. In order to qualify as a Certified Regional Training
Center, NHTI is required to meet a series of criteria. For instance,
instructors have to be competent in the use and application of CADKEY
software; they have to be willing to participate or provide industry
training workshops and/or host teacher workshops, and offer CAD
courses outside the classroom through local community education
programs and/or local industrial programs.
NHTI President Bill Simonton welcomed the increased
educational opportunities that will be available to students and
the community through this industry partnership. "Today's announcement
demonstrates the importance of cooperation between industry and
educational institutions in training students for professional employment,
particularly in fields where cutting-edge technology is a necessary
part of the curriculum," said Simonton. "The software and training
certification will enhance NHTI's ability to provide state-of-the-art
instruction that will lead to our students securing employment in
a high-demand field."
CADKEY Corp. supports NHTI's commitment to student
success. Students, instructors and administrators throughout North
America recognize that Certified Training Centers provide effective
educational CAD training. NHTI is one of ninety-two current and
prospective institutions to qualify as regional training centers
by Tech Ed Concepts, Inc. and CADKEY Corp., and the first for the
State of New Hampshire. Other Regional Training Centers include
Arkansas State University, Tri-State University, Ukiah High School,
Wisconsin Indian Head Technical College and other select academic
institutions located throughout North America.
"Providing NHTI with the ownership of the license
and identifying them as an academic training center, eliminates
the uncertainty of leased, timed, or limited academic versions often
supplied as product promotional offerings for students. Students
are our future and need to be prepared to make decisions that will
shape their future," Amarosa affirmed.
