New Rapid Prototyping Program Enhances “Chipless” Manufacturing
in the Educational Market

Pembroke, NH, January 30, 2003 – Tech Ed Concepts, Inc. (TEC, Inc.), provider of 3D Academic Engineering Solutions, has developed the TEC RP Pre-Engineering Program designed to introduce students to the modern industrial demand of Rapid Prototyping (RP) technology. This unique program allows instructors to provide students with a means to produce their 3D CAD design as a finished 3D model that they can physically hold. The TEC RP Pre-Engineering Program is available to secondary and post-secondary educational institutions.

The TEC RP Pre-Engineering Program is composed of 3D Mechanical CAD (CADKEY®) and 3D Architectural CAD (DataCAD®) software, a RP 3D Printer, and a curriculum package complete with a instructor’s guides for installing and using the equipment and software. All equipment, reference manuals and activities necessary to implement either a new pre-engineering/3D CAD/manufacturing program, or to enhance an existing program that incorporates the latest industrial advances of rapid prototyping, are included. The curriculum for this program has been written to meet national technology education standards.

The RP process involves exporting a 3D part file as an .STL (stereo lithography) file, then importing the .STL file in to the control software that is supplied with the RP 3D Printer. The data is then sent to the RP 3D Printer to “print” the part. The RP 3D Printer is fast, versatile and easy-to-use, allowing students to produce a range of models throughout various disciplines such as art, history, language arts, math, science, and technology education.

Richard Amarosa, President of TEC, Inc. stated, “TEC will continue to follow our corporate philosophy which incorporates the distribution of products and curriculum that meet the needs of instructors. TEC has designed a specialized RP curriculum, alleviating instructors from having to develop technical materials due to the rapid changes in technology, which will allow for more focus time on their program. TEC will continue to support educators throughout North America by adopting the latest in industrial technology and accompanying it with support materials for use within the classroom.”

Pricing
Pricing for the complete TEC RP Pre-Engineering Program begins at $32,900. The RP 3D Printer can be purchased independently from the TEC RP Pre-Engineering Program. For specific pricing questions, contact a TEC sales representative by calling 1-800-338-2238 or e-mail Sales@TECedu.com.
