Hannaford Career Center Brings Home Gold
Architecture Student wins first prize in Vermont Skills USA Competitions
In just five hours could you re-design an existing 38” x 132’, two floor warehouse into six 1624 sq ft two bedroom apartments? This was the challenge at the Vermont State SkillsUSA competion in Architectural Design this March. Victoria (Tori) Cousino, a second year Architecture student from Hannaford Career Center, Middlebury, was one of ninety students participating in the Skills event.
Tori completed four floor plans of the six units, front elevation of the structure, interior kitchen perspectives, and an exterior rendering that was, landscaped and showed the required parking. Cadsoft’s Envisioneer™ was the software she chose for the competition. She
had just been introduced to the software in February.
This gave her a little less than a month to master the program. Envisioneer™ is a 3D architectural design program that is being used by schools across the country for pre-engineering courses, as well as architectural design, construction trades and interior design classes. Tori hopes to increase her knowledge and speed in the use of Envisioneer™ before the National SkillsUSA championships.
The 44th annual SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills conference is June 23 -27, 2008, Kansas City, MO. We look forward to seeing Tori (and Envisioneer™) in the competition.
