Tech
Ed Concepts, Inc. Announces New Textbook: Architectural Design Presentations
Using Chief Architect Version 10
Concord,
NH, May 31, 2006 – Tech Ed Concepts, Inc. (TEC), a full-service
3D design and manufacturing technology provider for educators and
students, announces the availability of a new architectural design
textbook.
Architectural
Design Presentations Using Chief Architect Version 10, by Donald
A. Totter, lists step-by-step instructions that guide the learner
through a series of realistic activities for creating a three-dimensional
computer model of a twostory, three-bedroom, single-family home
of approximately 2,500 square feet. All of the activities are designed
to be completed in one semester by high school students with no
previous computer drawing experience. This book may also be used
as an instructional manual for college students and professionals
who want to quickly learn the fundamentals of the Chief Architect
10.
With its built-in flexibility, this book provides opportunities
for the learner to expand far beyond the basic design to incorporate
his or her own creative ideas. With screen images illustrating exactly
what the design model should look like, the user can actually watch
their creative ideas come to life. The chapters contained in the
book include goals, to keep the user on track, and vocabulary with
defi nitions blended directly within the text.
Donald A. Totter earned a Bachelor of Science in Education and Master
of Science in Education degrees from Northern Illinois University.
He served as a full-time technical drawing teacher at Libertyville
High School, Libertyville, Illinois for thirty-three years. During
that time, he developed and taught introductory and advanced level
courses in the areas of Architectural Drawing and Engineering Drawing.
He introduced three-dimensional computer assisted drawing to the
LHS technical drawing program in 1983 and, in the years that followed,
continuously expanded the use of CAD within the program. In 2002,
Don
retired from teaching and is currently involved in a second career
as an author of CAD textbooks.
